A: IDC has recently entered into a Memorandum of Understanding with NYDA and sefa in order to establish a three way partnership to provide development funding to youth owned businesses. In terms of the MOU, the three entities will work together in the following areas relating to Youth development: a. Providing entrepreneurial and development finance. b. Concretising the Youth Fund concept c. Institutional capacity building/strengthening d. Funding support e. Management/strategic information sharing, and f. A joint implementation team. Through this collaboration, youth owned businesses will be able to access IDC and sefa loans allocated for youth, as well as NYDA grants and business support.

A: At the moment the IDC can invest in a private equity fund through the Risk Capital Facility, which is a fund managed by IDC on behalf of the dti. These fund is available to BEE SMES with a job creation potential.
A: IDC is no longer funding franchises. Our subsidiary, the Small Enterprise Finance Agency (sefa) has taken over this role and should be able to assist in this regard
A: No. Funding can be obtained from the National Research Foundation or the Technology Innovation Agency, both of which fall under the Dept of Science and Technology.
